Ful.io is a web-technology analytics platform. This page explains what our data is, how it is produced, and the controls we offer — in plain language.
What Ful.io is
Ful.io answers two questions: what technology is a website built with, and which websites run a given technology. Operating since 2021, we index 100M+ websites and detect 75,000+ technologies across 277+ categories — CMS platforms, frameworks, analytics tools, ecommerce systems, payment gateways, hosting, CDNs and more.
Everything we sell is built from those detections: single-site lookups, market-share statistics, adoption breakdowns by country and industry, technology comparisons, and exportable reports of the websites running a technology. It is a census of the web’s software — facts about websites and the technology they run.
How the data is made
1
Crawl
Our engine visits publicly available websites and reads the same pages a site serves to any visitor or search engine. Nothing is accessed behind a login, paywall or access control.
2
Detect
Each page is matched against our library of 75,000+ technology fingerprints — the characteristic signatures technologies leave in a page's code, headers and configuration. A detection says one thing: this website runs this software.
3
Classify
Our own systems evaluate site-level attributes — the country a website serves, the industry it operates in — from the signals the website itself publishes. No third-party tracking is involved; it is analysis of what the site already says publicly.
4
Aggregate
Detections roll up into the statistics you see across Ful.io: how many websites run each technology, market share within a category, adoption by country and industry, and head-to-head technology comparisons.
What the index holds
Technology detections, the metadata websites publish about themselves (such as page titles and descriptions), and the aggregate statistics computed from them. That’s the whole inventory.
Ful.io is a B2B analytics product. It does not build consumer profiles, does not trade in personal information, and does not touch sensitive data categories. If a fact isn’t about a website or the software it runs, it doesn’t belong in our index.
What we don’t do
Access anything behind a login, paywall or access control
Collect from platforms whose terms prohibit indexing
Build consumer profiles or hold sensitive personal data — the subject of our index is websites and software, not people
Buy data from breaches or gray-market sources
Sell the index as a raw database — data is delivered inside a metered subscription product, with per-plan limits
Accuracy and corrections
Websites change their stacks, and the index changes with them: sites are re-scanned continuously, and detections reflect what a site currently serves. When we get something wrong, we fix it — anyone can flag an incorrect detection to support@ful.io, and we review and correct rather than argue.
Your website, your choice
Any domain owner or authorized representative can have their website removed from public lookups, reports and the directory. We verify ownership — usually via an email address on the domain — and removed domains go on an exclusion list so they are not re-crawled or re-listed.
All traffic to ful.io and api.ful.io is encrypted over TLS. The platform runs on AWS in the United States, and internal access is restricted to the people who operate the service.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by PCI-DSS compliant payment partners on their own hosted checkout pages. Card details never touch Ful.io servers.
Account data
We store what is needed to run your account — sign-in details, billing plan, usage — and we don't sell it. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
